Local Marlin???? - Milo - 07-03-2001

Have any of you private boaters ran across any local marlin while trying to find these albies around the 43 or the butterfly? I have heard of a couple being spotted from the Catalina Express boats but would sure like to hear of any others. Thanks.

Milo

Hey Steve,
The marlin here in California are striped marlin and normally range between 100-150#. A big one around here is 200+. We do get some larger swordfish though up to 500#. I haven't yet fulfilled my dream and been lucky enough to pull on a swordie yet, but I am still waiting patiently!!!

Milo

No worried Milo

I wondered if they might be striped. I have heard that So.Cal swordfish get to good sizes (plus their soft mouths).

A few of our So.Cal clients are looking to try and raise some with deep water jigs on a long range trip or two so they tell me.

Have given them a few suggestions about rigging whole squid bodies over special glow head (double hook) rigs for deep water work and also having a go at swordfish at night when the boat is on the sea anchor or static..

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
