[signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - KoldFeet - 04-01-2007 Thats a nice tiger! Congrats. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - Theekillerbee - 04-01-2007 Very nice! Congrats on gettin' a nice fish this late in the season. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - Kent - 04-01-2007 Congratulations -- that was the one that I was after a week ago, but I wasn't so lucky. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - kastmaster - 04-01-2007 Thanks for the report! Good-looking fish! I am looking to get another trip out to Huntington this year. Is there any problem getting out on the ice and do you need an extension for your auger? Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - Chester - 04-01-2007 It was good to meet you folks today. It was sure fun to watch you light up when you caught that big tiger[ ![]() Huntington: No slush on top. 3-5 inches of snow, 3-4 inches of ice, 12-18 inches of slush and a good layer of ice on the bottom. About 30 inches total. Ice was in better shape this week than it was last week. Started fishing about 7:00 am and got into fish right away. Bite was fast until 11:00. Then it cooled off a little. (59) Left at 12:30 and drove down past Scofield to see what was happening there. Large open area on the south end where the creek dumps in. 10-15 yards of open water along some parts of the west side. Few folks fishing on that side, but I didn't see anyone catch anything. East side has 5-20 feet of open water. Only a couple of people fishing on that side. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - tlspyder13 - 04-01-2007 The ice fishing gear is all but put away and you have to go and post a fish like that. Sounds like a great day. Now do I take the new tube or ice auger down that way next weekend? Was such a simple choice yesterday. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - fuzzyfisher - 04-01-2007 nice fish! huntington has some very nice fish in it! and can't bet the colors on some of them tigers.. i might just have to take a ride up there today and have a look my self.. [cool] or E-lake it still has fishable ice as well.. [signature] Re: [lunkerhunter2] huntington lunker! - sewfish - 04-01-2007 As to what we caught them on: The large fish was caught on a sented chub on a tip-up with a glow bead above the hook. All the other fish came off of ice flies, genz worms and forage fry lures tipped with a piece of night crawler. Rustyhook was trying all his larger jigging lures tipped with a chub head once we were over them and everything seemed to work. Chester, it was great to meet you. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - SkinnyLynnie - 04-01-2007 Just when I got my ice-fishing gear stowed, you go and get me excited about ice-fishing again. Oh well, November will be here before we know it. [signature] Re: [sewfish] huntington lunker! - Out4aFloat - 04-01-2007 I fished up there in December a few times and you couldn't keep the fish off. But then a couple buddies of mine went up and couldn't get a bite. And I thought I was told it would not pick up again. Good job on that lunker. Sounds like they are biting the same jigs and such. I fished the opposite end of the damn when I was there, by a small spring on the shore line. Where were you guys on the lake? Depth of water? Thanks for the report it got by blood running cold for the ice again! [signature] Re: [Out4aFloat] huntington lunker! - sewfish - 04-01-2007 We fished along the dam.Caught the big one and a few others about in the middle in 17 ft. Moved to the far side still along the dam in about 17 ft. Couldn't keep them off once we found where they were. Most of the them were in the top half of the water column. Still caught some on the bottom. The ice should be there for a while. [signature] |
