Went out with my two friends Bob and Bob. They were in their pontoon boats and I was on my kayak. The sit on kayak is a far better fishing vessel than my regular cockpit style kayak.
Notice that the fish of the day went to the kayaker. I was really doing well with my flyrod/full sink line and black rabbit leech. Things slowed down significantly after a rock ate my leech.

How about a board for guys who take their tubes along with the kayak to take advantage of the wonderful fishing efficiency of the tube? (You see, I haven't sold out to the dark side)
Glad to hear about the new board Pat. By the way, I knew it was only a matter of time before the "Dude", tubing afficiando par excellence, would aquire an H3.
Dave, unlike some other fellows, I have not fallen out of my new vessel. It is very stable. I can sit side
dle and straddle it. I even put my fins on and backtrolled while straddling the yak. That worked very well except that it was a bit of a stretch and would be hard on the waders. Yesterday to make directional changes while drifting with the current I used a ping-pong paddle. I think dragging a finned leg while straddling would work even better while providing total hands-free fishing in slower sections of the river. I've attached pictures to show how my friend and I differ in our approach to river fishing. The only thing I envied was the ability of my friend to slide forward into wading position with the current holding the pontoon against his body. I had to tether myself to the kayak while wading. In the shot of my kayak resting on shore I had stopped for a snack and to thoroughly wade that section. I caught half a dozen fish in that spot so beaching to fish an area probably will be the approach I use most often while river fishing in my kayak. As I suspected my yak moves very well upstream while their pontoons struggle just to stay in one spot while rowing up current.

[#0000ff]Kayaks have really "taken off" across the country as fishing vessels. There are many manufacturers and lots of new models every year. They are worthy of special consideration.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In my younger, slimmer and more flexible years I would have been all over kayaking...with the new top riding models they have now. But, as Dirty Harry says: "A man should know his limitations." I know mine.[/#0000ff]
