Anyone had any luck ? - lonehunter - 06-25-2007 Well I know Dave and I aren't the only guys in the state fishing , are we ? I meen you don't have to give your location out or anything , just post your catch or something . got a mess of gills yesterday , or had my lure slammed by a big northern . finally got that ol' big bass ! Well anyway , I hope you had a blast catching something . I've been tring for a muskey down at the dam , no luck yet . That big northern is showing his head up near the boat , maybe a slower retrive will help , that or a sucker on a bobber near the boat when I'm spinner fishing for him . I will take pictures when it is done. he will be able to drive it down the road park it in a feild on privet property. It will be some what like the deer huts upnorth seen on fire trails, except thay wont be up on a tower or in a tree fortress. I will have to figure out what will be the best heat sorce for it. I am thinking about a coleman globe style heater. something that will run on white gas but not to high on the btu's.. [signature] Re: [lonehunter] Anyone had any luck ? - davetclown - 06-30-2007 there are only two pictures so far, it will be at least a week before I post any thing new about it, I oopsed and took my top plates out with the wall. my plans are to perminantly mount it to the snow mobile trailer. but you can make it so that it comes back apart and throw it in the back of a full size pickup if you wanted. the walls and roof assemble with 3 inch 16d deck screws. if you stop right there you can disasemble it by pulling just a few screws with your cordless drill. you will have 6 peices total. to stand it you will just need a peice of ground not in a hole so you dont get flooded when it rains. Ya, you can hunt all day in the rain with this baby !...[cool] to assemble the walls you will need 4 deck screws per joint (20) two going in one way and two going in the other side of the joint studs and the roof will get screwed from the bottom up and will requier 10 3 inch deck screws. the roof will go on like a cap. use a primium ourdoor wood preservitive like bear and your girls will be able to put their boys in there for thier hunts... any other questions just ask.... [signature] Re: [lonehunter] Anyone had any luck ? - davetclown - 06-30-2007 I was looking at last years deer season rules, and bouy did they put the twist to the rules... the rules read, you are allowed two licenses only, either one combo license or one gun and one bow license. you are allowed only two deer total, not counting antlerless tags. one taken in gun season and the other in one of the other seasons covered under the combo license including bow and black powder. you are allowed only one deer per season, and one has to be a 4 point or better on one side and the other can be a spike. the twist is you can take the 4 point in either season, dosnt matter wich comes first, the chicken or the egg. then they threw in yet one more twist that I would have never in my life gussed on this one, it reads if you have an antlerless tag and a buck tag and you have not filled either of them at the time you shoot a button buck "deer with antlers less than three inches" you can tag that button buck with your buck tag leaving you with another antlerless tag for the season.... "you must have both the buck tag and the antlerless tag on you at the time you tag the button.... bouy am I looking forward to this years rule changes [pirate] dose dad have the acrage to put in for privet antlerless permits? I took the walls and the roof parts to lansing farm when I was suspost to have taken them to the Harsons Island Farm.... so that shot my whole day yesterday moving the walls half way across the state... LOL on the up side I was able to bring the roof boards home so I could work on the cealing of the hunting shack. so today I did just that, I spent my whole day working on it, and no I did not get it finished, I was trying to enjoy the day while doing this... I built this 7 feet tall, and notice it towers over top of my truck. I think 6 foot would be sufficent and still give you room to stand up and walk around, and to tell the truth people who stand our height 5 foot is enough if you dont mind not standing for some time. those office chairs are realy nice as long as you stay away from the vinal ones. they are quiet and gives you the oppertunity to shoot out of any window. you will deffenantly want to park this in the shade. I was working on it yesterday out in the sun and I could only get in it for 15 minuts at a time. 95 degrees and baking sun inside of a black box makes for a deadly combination. You could build the roof right on top of your shack, I didnt have that option. what I am saying is if you have a way to lift the roof, it is eaiser to to build it on the ground and lift it in to place, I am not a big fan of working on ladders... two six foot people can lift it and slide it on top of the 7 foot shack. I could reach the top but it was well out of my range for putting the roof on. It is a bit of a strech for guys our size so I think you may want to go for a six foot shack. If I make another one, I wont go any taller than 6 foot.. I got lots of head room, I got room to do jumping jacks in side this shack... I did put the roof on by my self, I first rolled it in to the back of my truck, drove it out and then lifted and slid it in to the back of the cargo truck, then I grabed the trailer and backed it up to the cargo truck and lifted one side on top of the roof and went to the front of the cargo truck and entered the back through the door between the seats then lifted the back side of the roof and slid it in to place. I then went in side and turned the roof to expose the corners and removed those corner braces I had put in place and then lined up the roof from the inside. starting in the back over the door I used 3 in deck screws and ancored the roof. once I had the roof ancored I pulled the straps down and used roofing nails, two on the side and one on the bottom. I will get another picture of the strap if that isnt clear. like I mentioned I had not acored the shack to the trailer, well I had nails and other things in the back of the shack and when I took the trailer loose from the truck the tong pointed in the air. the shack is mounted well over the axle with just enough weight to keep preasure on the tong. so it is important if you store any thing in the trailer you keep it to the front. Any way the shack slid back 4 inches. I will have to push that back to the bow of the trailer. I will be using two ancor on each wall, If I were planning on taking it down the road any time soon I would put at least 4 ancors on each wall. I used a piece of lath board to glue across the top of the plexiglass for a handle to grab the window. I wanted to drill and put in studs though the wood and glass but was not allowed the time to do it. I guess I forgot to take a pic of the window from the inside. I will try to remember to do that the next time I am on the island. I still have to find a rug for the inside and go back out with a jack and level the shack. It was a riot taking it on the fairy, every one kept asking me what it was, I replied it was a pigeon coup.. LOL pulled up between a rose bush and an oak tree sapling near a ground hog hole in a hay feild next to a few over grown oak and christmas trees. and yes it is on privet property. I want to make that vary clear, in michigan it is not leagle to set out hunting structures on state land. the farmer was only to happy to have the shack set up on top the ground hog hole. Fleas drown easily, ticks dont. The month of july agust and september are the best time for hitchhikers. spraying your pants with a quality insect repellent or wearing stiff denam geans will aid in reppeling these critters this is impotant, you dont want to bring these critterss home especialy if you have carpetting in your house. they can be difficult to get rid of once they have been introduced to the inside of a domicile.[/size] [signature] Re: [davetclown] Anyone had any luck ? - lonehunter - 08-03-2007 [size 1]and yes it is on privet property.
