Smallies at D.C... hot... - twolves - 07-13-2007 Hit Deer Creek 7-12-07. Got on the water at 6 a.m., well I was on the bank. Fished the usuall west side near the dam. Fishing was fast but frusrating. I started with my usuall size 6 panther martin caught 30 or so smallies the biggest coming in at 15 inches. The rest were smaller 5-10 inchers. I hate unhoooking small smallies almost every other cast. oh well what do you do. Decided I was bored, wanted to mess around with all the boring and slow tackle i rarely use. I like to fish fast not senko it all day, although that is fun, too slow. So i rigged a senko weightless wacky, caught 5 on that, decided to try a tube jig weightless rigged wacky. Caught 10- 15 on that. It was fun because I could see them take it most of the time, because i was fishing on the steep bank. After 4 and a half hours decided to go to work. I love to fish Senkos or Salt Sticks for bass, but if I can get them just as easily on spinner baits or cranks, I'll fish those instead. [cool] [signature] |
