The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will be holding a series of three public meetings to discuss changes to deer hunting seasons in southeast Colorado. Specifically, the DOW wants input about whether to offer "whitetail only" deer licenses for the area.

Meeting dates and times are:

La Junta: Sept. 25, 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express meeting room.

Lamar: Sept. 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Lamar DOW office.

Springfield: Sept. 28, 6 p.m. at the Springfield Community Building.

Persons who cannot attend one of the meetings can submit input in writing by sending comments to DOW biologist Trent Verquer at 2500 S. Main St., Lamar, CO 81052

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for managing wildlife and wildlife habitat, as well as providing wildlife related recreation and maintaining a balance between human activities and wildlife. The Division of Wildlife's primary funding comes from the sale of hunting and fishing licenses and the habitat fees collected in conjunction with those sales. The Division does not receive tax dollars from the state's general fund.
