News Flash, Barry lied - uncledon - 11-16-2007 Surprize, surprize, Barry lied to the grand jury. No kidding, sherlock. Now what they goin' do with him. Maybe he could share a cell with O J. Those suckers deserve each other. Sounds like he might be unemployed. At least SF don't want him. [signature] Re: [uncledon] News Flash, Barry lied - Flycasting - 11-16-2007 I'm not saying he didn't lie, but he and OJ are innocent until proven guilty in my book. It'll be interested to see what happens to the record books if he is convicted. Lay off the guy, Clinton didn't go to prison for perjury, why should Bonds? " Yeah, it may not help him hit the ball any easier but the steriods sure as hell make him hit it farther. I hope he gets nailed. Its a wonder that teams aren't lining up to sign him????? [signature] Re: [cadresults] News Flash, Barry lied - BearLakeMack - 11-17-2007 [black]If you can't put the bat on the bean, all the power in the world won't help you.[/black] [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] News Flash, Barry lied - ocean - 11-17-2007 Its funny when he was in his prime he couldnt hit nore than 25 homers.[ ![]() ![]() [signature] Re: [ocean] News Flash, Barry lied - BearLakeMack - 11-17-2007 [black]No one's going to argue that "performance enhancing" drug won't make you strong or faster. That's why they are called PERFORMANCE ENHANCING drugs but give Bonds his due. The guy has been the league's MVP 7 times! He's a 14 time all star. 12 time silver slugger winner. He's been a golden glove 8 years. In 1994, before his steroid use, he was ESPN's Male athlete of the year. He hold a lot more records than just the home run records. Face it, the guy had major talent. [/black] [black][/black] [black]Putting the sweet spot of a bat on a ball traveling over 90 MPH, is the hardest feat in sports. Steroids don't give you that talent. Also MLB changed the ball to be more "energetic". The league, knowing that home runs are a big draw for fans, juiced the ball up. Look at the up swing in home runs in the league as a whole compared to earlier years of the "toned down" ball.[/black] [black][/black] [black]If the guy lied then he deserves to be punished but you can take his achievements away from him. There have been a lot of athletes who have taken performance enhancing drug and never reached the pinnacle of achievements that Barry Bonds has. Heck, When your dad was Bobby Bonds and your cousin is Reggie Jackson, you might just have the right gene pool to be a great hitter.[/black] [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] News Flash, Barry lied - fsh4fun05 - 11-18-2007 No doubt he is a great athlete. Just made some bad choices and unfortunately he'll be known as Barry 'Bail' Bonds. [ ![]() [signature] Re: [fsh4fun05] News Flash, Barry lied - ocean - 11-19-2007 Thats so funny!! [ ![]() [signature] Re: [ocean] News Flash, Barry lied - BearLakeMack - 11-19-2007 [black]Pretty strong words considering MLB was not enforcing a policy of no performance enhancing drugs like the NBA or NFL when Bonds and several other players were first taking steriods. MLB dragged their feet with any enforcement or any strict testing to prohibit the use of these drugs until 2005. By turning a blind eye to it basically told players that it was OK to use them. Only after outside pressure was put on by the league to enforce a drug free environment did it happen. By that time, guys like McQuire, Consenco, Gambi, Bonds and a wide host of other were all doing them. More players were using them than either you or I will ever know.[/black] [black][/black] [black]Why? That's simple. To compete. When others start taking performance enhancing drugs and results show and these idividuals start recieving the big money contracts and the league turns a blind eye to the entire situation, its easy to see why so many players felt that to be able to be at the top of their game and compete, they too had to use these drugs.[/black] [black][/black] [black]I'm sorry, Ceasar, but I don't think its as cut and dry as you try to make it out to be. I'd lay a heavy portion of the blame on MLB. If they had instituted drug enforcement and testing when other professional sports did, the problem would of not been there to the extent it was. When the league turns a blind eye to the issue because the results of these drugs are "good for the game" there is a lot deeper problem than just one guy and his use of these drugs, especially a high profile player like Bonds.[/black] [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] News Flash, Barry lied - Flycasting - 11-19-2007 Agreed, Bud Selig shoulders much of the blame. He wanted the fan base to come back after the lockout, and turned a blind eye when multiple guys started hitting 50 plus homers per year. Only congressional pressure put an end to it. I believe that very little would still have been done if not for that. [signature] Re: [BearLakeMack] News Flash, Barry lied - ocean - 11-20-2007 I agree with everything you said . The ones who do have the integrity not to cheat come out loosing because of the cheaters. And thats the ![]() ![]() [signature] Re: [ocean] News Flash, Barry lied - packfish - 11-20-2007 Roids let one heal much faster than those who don't use them. The days that someone might be out with an injury for a week or so become just days for those who use them. Barry lied point blank and was arrogant about it. Great player , great athlete- what a dumbass. [signature] |
