What lure is this? - Old_Coot - 11-21-2007 [font "Comic Sans MS"][size 2][#002850]Can anyone help me identify this lure, name, brand, where to buy one, etc? They are cheap too... $2 [cool] [signature] Re: [Flycasting] What lure is this? - polokid - 11-21-2007 It is the renegade brand and can be found at Walmart. They also have the deeper diving spooned ones too. [signature] Re: [Old_Coot] What lure is this? - Elkoholic - 11-21-2007 Coot, ask Polokid about those. He had some last year when we fished Willard, and it seems to me that they were poor quality. He was having to "tune" them all the time to keep them tracking straight. If I remember right he chucked a few of them also. Probably not worth the money even at Wallyworld prices. To answer your question though, I believe they are a Renegade brand. Proabaly made in china with lots of lead in the paint!!!! I think that it is a Yozuri brand Lure. Sportsmen usually has them in there cheap lure bin. Tincanfsh [signature] Re: [Old_Coot] What lure is this? - utwalleye - 11-21-2007 looks like yozuri to me also. [signature] Re: [Old_Coot] What lure is this? - bassrods - 11-21-2007 Yep what TD said looks right.... [signature] Re: [Old_Coot] What lure is this? - Tarponjim - 11-21-2007 One more vote for YoZuri from me. Crystal Minnow. I use 'em for tarpon in the Keys. That very one! Might even be a "mullet" finish. [signature] Re: [Tarponjim] What lure is this? - TubeDude - 11-22-2007 [cool][#0000ff]Is that "mullet" as in fish...or in hair style.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Are you fishing the salt yet?[/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] What lure is this? - Tarponjim - 11-22-2007 The fish. Mullet are also known as "tarpon candy," and they like that YoZuri plug at night. And its built well enough not to explode into pieces when a tarpon goes nuts with it hanging in its mouth. I'm ice fishing now, or at least, fishing with ice in the rod tip and line guide of the reel. The only salt I'll see for a few weeks might be on the boat ramp so I can launch. But, I'll have snook busting my top-waters 28 days from today. Here is a pic of a sample I have. I used to have one the exact same as the one Coot posted. [signature] Re: [Flycasting] What lure is this? - TubeDude - 11-22-2007 [cool][#0000ff]There are several "knockoffs" of the Yozuri design. But, the copycats are not as well made, not as well balanced and do not have good hardware. Fortunately, some do work well enough to be worth what you pay for them.[/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] What lure is this? - Flycasting - 11-22-2007 Yup. I have had good and bad luck with the Renegades. Some swim well, while others roll over. The deep divers seep to be a bit better. You are right on with the hardware. The hooks and o-rings are complete trash on the Renegades. I am sure they are much better on the Yo Zuri. Also, the paint on the Renegades tend to chip easily... I think I can see chipping on Coots pic. [cool] [signature] Re: [Flycasting] What lure is this? - scartinez - 11-22-2007 I've had good luck with some of the renegade crankbaits. The O-rings are garbage though. I would replace them before use. [signature] Re: [scartinez] What lure is this? - Flycasting - 11-22-2007 Lunkerhunter2 and I did well with them on walleye and wipers last year.
