Scofield/Huntington - fshslyer36 - 12-24-2007

I was a little un sure where i wanted to go today we ended up getting to scofield at around 10:30 after a rough night we fished there for about two hours and had a few bites but nothing else so we headed down to huntington as soon as we got the ice shack set up my 7 year old had a fish hooked after a short fight he lost it at the hole so i rebated him up and put his pole down i turned around to sit down and he was screaming he had another one he got that one landed and next it was my 5 year old to follow in his foot steps i let them catch all the fish and they had fun ill post some pics latter the biggest was 17" and the smallest was 14"

Me and my boys hit huntington on Saturday morning early and broke trail through waist deep snow drifts. The snow on the ice was around 1 1/2 to 2 feet of snow and another 6 inches of slush. It made it tough going pulling a sled. It was cold cold cold and to top it off the fishing sucked. I am done with huntington till the ice is off because it just gets worse.

The snow drifts where pretty solid so we could walk on top of them but there was a good 6" of slush and water we fished by the dam and even with the slush i would do it again [cool]

that is why i try to hit huntington early. after the first big storm it gett's messy on good day's and right down sloppy on it's bad day's..

affter the snow has a chance to settle and get hard pack it shouls be ok again.. well tail the next big storm come's through at lest..

2 or 3 years ago i was up the on hard pack snow maybe 3" of powder on top.. started to drill a hole with my hand auger 4 foot long.. i could not get the hand auger all the way through the ice there at huntington. so it will settal but i dont know if it will be so thick that ya can get a hole through it.. lol [sly]
