Fish TV ???? - trfishin - 01-10-2008 []hey has anyone tried the new Fish TV under water camera. I saw some at sportsmen's warehouse a week ago. has anyone tried to see if it works or if it's a waist of money. I'm interested in getting an underwater camera but I don't want to spend a lot on one as I don't get out ice fishing as much as I used to. any info. would be great. Thanks and good luck ice fishing [signature] Re: [trfishin] Fish TV ???? - RyanCreek - 01-10-2008 I think all the entry models are about the same, regardless of manufacturer. I got the Cabela's model from my Father-in-law for Christmas. Works great, but was disappointed to find that some of the lakes I fish are too murky for the camera to be any help at all. Just make sure the camera has infra-red leds on it. i've seen some that have normal leds and that will just scare all the fish away. Also, if you plan on icefishing, they have these cheap ($15 or so) tripod things that go over the hole and help hold and manuever your camera underwater that are a BIG help. good luck! [signature] Re: [trfishin] Fish TV ???? - JAB2208 - 01-10-2008 I bought one from Anglers Den last week. My buddy bought a 350 dollar aqua vu scout the next day. We tried them at Echo last weekend and they worked exactly the same. His does have a nice bag though. His model had about 100' of cord and the fish tv has 50'. I drilled a hole next to my pole and watched my jig all day long. Perch would pick up my jig off of the ground and my pole would not move. I use spring bobbers and never saw it flinch. I started to watch the camera and when the perch picked up the gizzy bug on the ground I would set the hook. Ended up being real picky and only setting the hook on the "keepers". What was real fun was my ice fly above my gizzy was not in the cameras view and when the perch hit that, it would surprise the heck out of me. So moral of the story, I would not hesistate to purchase the fish tv. The one thing I did like about his scout was a blue light on the top of camera, so if you look down your hole you could see which way the camera was facing. Other than that and the bag and cord length, they seemed to work the same and 250 dollars cheaper. Hope this helps... Might be better deals out there. I really love the case mine has. It has a great flip up screen cover built in. Real handy and easy to use. And like I said, the tripod for the camera cable makes things so much easier. Only 50' of cable on my camera, but I never fish that deep, ever, unless its flaming gorge so I'm not worried. It has a nice bag for carrying, 65' cable, and I belive infrared l.e.d.'s. ( I say that because I turned it on in my kitchen at night with the lights out, and there were no visible lights coming from the camera and I could easily see 10' - 15' away. What's nice is when you drill through the ice, send the camera down, you can see the bottom whether its sandy, or brushy etc. but also what kind of fish if any are down there. It there is a negative to it, you can only see one direction. The tripod that RyanCreek mentioned might not be a bad idea. For as much as I will have time to use it maybe after a little more thought I will buy me one thanks again and good luck ice fishing. [signature] |
