'Vintage' pencil bait - fsh4fun05 - 01-31-2008 Me and a buddy of mine have been talking about and thinking of ideas of how to re-create a pencil bait. A topwater that sits up straight, like a pencil perpindicular to the water, so you can twitch it hard and fast and make it slap the water without it moving very far. The only thing I have been able to find in stores is a topwater with props on each end that lays on top of the water. Anybody have any ideas? I'm so ready for spring bassin'!!!! Both sit straight up and down but the Spittin' Image has a little ramp-up built into the area below the tie-on eye. It splits up the water and causes the bait to pop up and out of the water and then settle back. Its kind of flat on the sides. Has a rattle. Mine are all bit up but still gonna work this spring.
