Good Fishing at Hyrum 2/18 - lordCrappie - 02-18-2008
Got to Hyrum around 7:30 with a buddy and we instantly caught 4 trout in about the first 10 minutes. Each were about 12 inches. We contemplated if we should take the drive to Newton but it wasn't worth the chance if the road was not plowed. We fished till 11:30 and we had caught 20 trout(bows) and about 65+ perch. We had a good time and the fishing was pretty much non-stop. The lure of the day was a white gizzy bug with a yellow jig head just below a dropshot. If anyone knows about Newton, I would appreciate the information. Man I love fishing! I love my wife more for letting me go so much. She knows it makes me happy and keeps me sane.

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]I also fished Hyrum this morning. I fished from 0800 till 1200. I caught 6 trout and about 35 perch. Most all of the fish were small. We were near the inlet and it was slower today for us than it has been over the last few weeks. The big plus for this trip was the ice conditions. The ice was solid with no slush at all. There is 5 inches of slow on the ice and it made getting the 4 wheeler across the lake very easy. The sun was shining and the wind was not blowing. What a great day to be on the ice![/size][/font]

The perch were running small, occasionally I got a good one. Out of the limit about 4 were great. The further from shore, the bigger they got.
