FGR Burbot Catch Report -2/17/08 - Ryno - 02-19-2008 [size 1]We hit Marsh Creek again Saturday night and put some burbot on the ice. We totaled 42 burbot and fishing was best from about 6:30-9:00pm. A couple of the guys stayed a little later and caught another 7, before the wind blew them off. Ice was 16 inches thick. Fish were caught in 10-40ft of water. Tip-ups seemed less effective than rods, possibly due to the light hits(?). One of the anglers did extremely well using a Buckshot jigging spoon in glow. Go figure though, I put one on and I did better using a tube jig. Anyways, jigging spoons, tubes, curly-tails, and jigging Shad Raps, all in glow color, will work one time or another. Tip the lures with frozen sucker, shiners, and crayfish and scent them up using your favorite perfume (Smelly Jelly, Crayfish Gravy, etc). If your not getting hits, reel up, charge the glow, re-scent, and drop your bait back down. A lot of times fish were hitting quick on the drop. Like Bkidder (WY Mod) who fished across the lake at Holmes Crossing, most of our burbot were smaller, ranging from 12-16 inches. We caught a few that were 20-24 inches. There's still some good fishing for burbot out there, and it seems like a few bigger fish are starting to show up again. Hope it helps, Ryno [/size] [signature] Re: [Ryno] FGR Burbot Catch Report -2/17/08 - trfishin - 02-19-2008 []thanks for the report that sure is a big pile of ling. nice catch thanks fot the report [signature] Re: [Ryno] FGR Burbot Catch Report -2/17/08 - bluefishon - 02-19-2008 Thanks for the report, nice pic! My question 4 you is when you guys are fishing the marsh creek area are you accessing it off of 531 or 191 ? i have been checkin out this area on my lake map 4 some time now and was wonderin if it could be done off of route 530 or would it be more feasible to make the drive around to 191 ? any advice would be appreciated .. also we noticed 2 that the tip ups were not near as effective as a rod with some lite line.. thanks again 4 the report ...
