My day at Alamitos Bay!! - DH_tubinjoe - 04-22-2003
4 sand bass
8 yellow fin croaker
1 halibut (short)
1 really big smelt (14 inches)
I think i did pretty good. I caught all of them on ghost shrimp. mostly under a bridge to the right of mother's beach.
One of my friends said that he saw somebody that is a member on this site, but didnt remember who. WHO ARE YOU??? haha

How big were your sandbass??
Last time I went I caught 4 short bass, 5 short halibut, 2 BIg sole and lost a close to legal halibut

all the sand bass were between 9 and 11 inches. nothing leagal.
i hooked up onto a big halibut too. not sure if it was a legal, but it was a good size.

If it gets blown out, out there, You, me, Chris, Greg, and one of my friends from Los Al should go either on Sat or SUn if the boats dont run.
We fished there last time and the wind was blowing like a mother but we still caught fish.

Hey there dh tubinjoe,
Ya, I was flyfishing by the swim area, while you guys were doing the slooooooooooooow crawl to your take out spot. You had gone up by the time I got over there. Good to hear you both had a good day. Did you guys start at 8am and get out at 5pm. Man, you young guys just keep going and going and going.
I ended with to 14 inch smelt myself and the fly by the skuls beside the bridge.

yup... 8-5. it was a rough day . in the morning, the bite wasn't on. we got a few short halibut, and then we went in for about 10 minutes, and then we walked to the 2nd street bridge. launched again, and thats where we caught most of our fish. I got a couple of sandies and croaker at the apian way bridge. that was in the afternoon.
