ODFW will host free youth fishing event - FishNews - 04-10-2008
ODFW will host free youth fishing eventas part of the Youth Angling
Enhancement Program on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McNary
Channel Ponds near Hermiston. With easy access and a natural setting, the ponds
are a great place to introduce young people to the fun of fishing. The ponds will be
stocked for the event, and ODFW will supply rods and reels, tackle, bait, and fish
bags for use by young anglers who do not have their own fishing equipment. In
addition, ODFW staff and volunteers will be on hand to show beginning anglers how
to bait the hook, cast the rod and land the fish. The McNary Channel Ponds are
located just below McNary Dam off I-84. For more information about this event call
