Late season steelhead - Slash - 05-26-2008 Fished an east Michigan trib and landed 5 nice steelhead. The fish ranged from 25-31 inches. Crawlers were the best bait, but had one chase a cleo as well. Not alot of fish left, but enough. Barring any really warm weather, the run might make it into June again for a change. All were cought just as the evenings hatches started using mayfly patterns . Footesite village was booming with tourists and vacationers , my one reprive from the crouds were the cool water temps that kept the tubers and canoers numbers down to a bare minimum . Re: [lonehunter] Late season steelhead - Slash - 05-27-2008 Yeah, they were alittle work, but like you said, definanetly worth it. I got 2 DB's, 2 bucks, and one full hen. That warm spell around the third week of April kinda screwed us abit, as it put a bunch of fish on gravel really quick. I think overall, we had a pretty good run this season, fall through spring. Definanetly better then atleast the last three. [signature] |
