CJ Strike..... - idduckhntr - 07-31-2008

Anyone been there recently???? I was there about a month ago and caught some trout out in front of the Air Force ramp. Having a family reunion at the Dunes this weekend and have a bunch of little ones that want to catch fish! Any reports/suggestions will be appreciated!! (under some pressure here-most of them are from out of state......and under 12!)

Find a rocky shoreline or a cove,,, set the kids up w/ crappie rigs. Bait/jigs below a bobber, kids will stay busy all day. There are plenty of nice smallmouths to be caught as well. Strike is one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the state, I caught a 5lber last weekend.

Good luck!

Had a friend fish the Cove campground recently from the shore, and caught crappie, perch, and trout. It can be found just east of Black Sands. He was fishing in the cove itself. For the crappie, a crappie jig with a crappie nibble on the hook will work great for the kids. The owner of the fishing store in Bruneau recently reported that crickets are working great. I have heard the bluegill in particular like the crickets. With the kids, don't forget lots of bobbers!! Hope they catch some. Report back. Mike

I've been to CJ 4 times this summer. Everytime its unlimited crappie. Last time I was using a dark green foxy jig I caught 4 different species in 10 casts. Smallie, Blue Gill, Perch, and a Channel Cat. In addition, I also caught a ton of crappie that day. This was all from the bank. Just like others have said, crappie jigs under bobbers. I didn't tip the jig, but I'm sure it can't hurt. Good luck.
