Black Lake: no trout - Tatohead - 08-11-2008 Camped over the weekend at Black Lake at the South end of the Seven Devils range. We were hoping to be rewarded for such a long an rocky drive with a brookie bonanza. Alas, the lake appears to be trout-free. It seems the state planted tiger muskie in the lake last year and we didn't see ONE fish jump the whole weekend. We talked to the other campers and nobody had caught a fish or seen one. We did fish for a few hours and ended up catching 2 18-inch tiger muskies (photo attached). I hope the state knows what they're doing here. I guess the plan is to let the sterile muskies die off after they've killed all the brookies and replant with cutts. But keep going to the meetings and voicing your opinion. Public opinion has more effect than many people realize. Ps: Tatohead, congrats on the tiger. [signature] |
