cant figure out what this fish was - hunter_man9k - 08-11-2008

sorry i have no picture but i have a good description

i thought it was a rock bass but its eyes were not red it was about the size of a good panfish and it was eaisy to lip think it was some type of bass im not sure i ate it and it was good (i caught a couple of them) if you have a picture of what you think this fish is tell me thanks

There is a northern Rock Bass in your area. It doesn't have the red eye and has almost the same shape as a Blue Gill. I have caught Warmouth in your state and they have a red eye.

Here is a Warmouth:

Here is a Green Sunfish:

All three of these have a thumbable sized mouth but only the Warmouth has the red eye.[cool]

thanks i think it might be the rock bass do you know a good bait for them i was using corn when i caught em

One of the easiest baits for them is Baby Nightcrawlers or use about 1/2 of a normal sized Nightcrawler.

Put that about 2 feet under a bobber and wait for the pull.

You may also have access to Mealworms or Waxworms. They should also work.[cool]
