Good place for Beginners in Utah County? - Smoothie - 08-14-2008

I don't fish very often in the Utah County area. I promised to take my brother in law and his son fishing on Sat. morning. Neither of them have spent much time fishing.

I want to take them to a river or pond or resevoir that is close to Thanksgiving Point (they live just east of there). They can only fish from 7 AM and have to be back home by Noon.

I'm thinking of taking them to the lower Provo, but I've heard that there are restrictions against using bait on the LP (I've never fished there before).

I've also thought of taking them up American Fork Canyon (but I've never fished there before either).

Any ideas or recommendations???

Tibble Fork is nice. It's up AF canyon. You should be able to catch some planter rainbows pretty easily. If you're willing to fish for something other than trout try Utah Lake.

Trout:
AF Canyon ... Lower Provo (In Town) ... Use Live Grasshoppers or Worms.

Bluegill, Catfish or White Bass:
Utah Lake (A.F. Boat Harbor or Jordan River Outlet)
Use Worms & Bobber. 18" up from hook.

You should do well.

P.S. There is a community fishery behind Lone Peak High that holds nice cats, planter trout & plenty of bluegills.

Good Luck!
