family friendly rivers??? - penjak - 09-20-2008

Hello,,, I am a foreigner ( from California ) and am heading up to Utah for a few days. Taking my wife and 7month old baby. Trying to figure out what waters to hit. I can spend more time on the water if I can take my family if the surrounding area is nice. She can just drop me off and hang out with the baby and I can get some quality time on the water. I will be able to get out a little completely by myself at least once. So,,,, based on this forum and a couple other ones, here is my short list,,, Weber,Provo ( middle or lower??) Sevier, Strawberry, Current Creek, Ogden. I am not sure what "pm" stands for on this forum but I assume it's to send a direct email. If so, you can pm me ( midrt@yahoo.com ) with any " inside info ". Just gonna be in town for a few days so no worries on me leaking out any info. Thanks,,,

PM stands for private message. You can send and receive them if you click on Private Messages in the menu above. I'm not quite sure what qualifies as family friendly for your wife with a 7 month old but I'd bet the Weber isn't going to qualify. I don't fish the Provo but it's probably OK. The area around Strawberry River by the Pinnacles is beautiful and worth considering although I'm not sure how it's fishing right now. I fished Diamond Fork 2 days ago and it was the fastest fishing I've ever encountered there. Probable caught 40 fish in an hour and half with 2 biggest being 18 inches. It's not a bad place to hang out or take a hike from 3 Forks. I probably wouldn't suggest the Sevier or Ogden with the family. Given Currant Creek and Strawberry are so close to each other, if you go out that way I'd only try Currant if the fishing is poor at Strawberry. Good luck.

I haven't fished up there in a couple of years but the Spanish Fork river is pretty family friendly. Theres a small park with picnic tables and at least if I remember correctly a few swings and slides. Someone else maybe able to update on the fishing

The Provo is also family friendly Theres a few parks like Vivan and Bridal Vale falls I think theres one more park but I can remember the name. I also havent fished that section this year Im usually further up on the middle or upper Provo.
