Sabe Float Tubes? - SHigSpeed - 10-01-2008

Anyone have or hear of these?

I just picked up a Sabe Latitude float tube in a deal including a pair of Force Fins.

I planned to sell everything to keep the fins, but the tube is quite intriguing. I'll post up pics later, but here's a general description:

It's a well made, heavy pack cloth C-Donut. When inflated it looks like a wedge round donut, but in the front, there's a split. Odd. You can't pull yourself through the split like in a U-boat so launching ease isn't the reason. The split is held together by air pressure in the bladder and a quick-clip up front.

The seat is somewhat raised with height adjustment front and rear and the side of the sling is sewn in half height vs. bottom plane on the tube. Chest waders are probably still needed, but it's still somewhat high I think...

Three main pockets with heavy duty big tooth zippers with double ended pulls for ease of access. Two armrest pockets, one over-the-backrest pocket.

Bladders are URETHANE! The tube is super lightweight as well. The valves/inflation stems are someone different from what I've seen but may be normal. There's a rubber-like stem and a twist to seal valve. The seatback bladder even is urethane. Only problem that I see is that inflation and deflation are SLLLLOOOOWWW since all the air has to go through such a small hole. I'm spoiled from the big Boston valves on my other craft.

Came with a stripping apron (of course) and has the standard sideways velcro rod holder and abundant D-rings for strapping stuff on with.

Sound familiar?

At any rate, it seems of high quality, and I'll probably end up keeping it. I'll then have my FCIV Dx for me, and a Bucks Hi&Dri and this for my two boys should I ever want to ducks-in-a-row with them.

Just thought I'd share.

Again, pics to come...

Anyone seen one? Fished one?

You'll notice that the seat sling is sewn in at half height which SHOULD keep you higher in the water. Interesting. Almost makes me want to take it out for a test run!
