Drift Drogue - SHigSpeed - 10-03-2008 Anyone have experience using on in a tube/'toon to reduce wind drift? _SHig [signature] Re: [SHigSpeed] Drift Drogue - flygoddess - 10-03-2008 Got to admit, I have thought about it, but haven't taken that step yet. I am betting I eventually will. It opens up in the water like a parachute, and slows your drift down. http://www.seattlesportsco.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=69&idproduct=691 [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Drift Drogue - macfly55 - 10-03-2008 [#008000]thanks sis.. I thought thats what ya'll meant but was not sure.. what I do know is that on all Navy vessels the emergency rafts all have one so that the boat does not drift as much.. and from what I have been told they work great.. so I could see how one would work very well on a tube or tune... It would help to keep you into the wind, but might be a danger if you need to move fast. In the boat, you have a quick release system with a float on it in case you need to power up fast. I imagine that you could set something up for your tube/toon. You would not need a very big sock. for my boat I use an 18 and a 24 inch sock. For the average toon/tube, a 10 - 12 inch sock might be adequate. Make sure you have floats on one side and weight on the other so it opens and stays upright. Spinning is a problem with them. |
