INFO NEEDED: Canoe float/ trout fishing trip - Missouri_Mark - 12-07-2008 Our group of 4 (all in our 50s) will be staying near the Clark's Fork of Yellowstone next mid July. We are interested in a short safe 6-8 mile float/trout fishing trip on a Class 1 and 2 river or stream (maybe a little Class 3 water as we are experience canoeists) but definitely not a thrill seeking trip as we have done the whitewater trips in our youth. My research has been futile as all I can find are whitewater trips. I haven't been able to find a company that rents/shuttles canoes or a river/stream that fits our needs as safe and fishable. We prefer wade fishing and just use a canoe as a taxi, not even minding pulling the canoe along some thru shallow water. Our idea of a perfect day would be a short safe 6-8 mile trip, catch a few fish, and mostly enjoy some nice scenery. Any suggestions/directions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Missouri Mark [signature] Re: [Missouri_Mark] INFO NEEDED: Canoe float/ trout fishing trip - windriver - 12-08-2008 I just do not know that area in the Cody, Beartooth,/Chief Joseph Highway area well enough to help you. That is on the opposite side of the park from where most of us fish/float etc... I you want a really peaceful float/ fish and you are not locked into the clarks fork. I would suggest canoeing on Yellowstone Lake or Shoshone Lake. I have canoed Yellowstone Lake several times. You can get a shuttle to take your crew and canoes back to the wakeless area. From there you can fish and canoe from campsite to campsite for however many days you want. We always do our caneing in the early morning and then fish later in the day. The wind on Yellowstone Lake can be tremendous but it almost always comes up after 11:00AM. Sorry can not be of more help if you want more info on canoeing lake let me know.
