Fly snaps - timberhall - 02-16-2009 Does any one use those fly snaps for there ice fishing jigs and ice flies? They seem like they might be the ticket to changing baits fast and easy instead instead of trying to make knots with cold fingers. Can I get them at smith and edwards? [signature] Re: [timberhall] Fly snaps - fishnate - 02-16-2009 I bought a bunch of the smallest cross lock snaps I could find at Bass Pro Shops and they work great. They are large enough to deal with when its cold but small enough to not be noticed by the fish. Get some and I think you will like them. I've tried the fly snaps but the thing I didn't like about them was they were harder to deal with, with cold fingers. Can you please give more information about who makes this product so I can google it? [signature] Re: [timberhall] Fly snaps - FishinFool53 - 02-17-2009 They are all I have ever used for ice fishing. You can change a jig in a matter of seconds. They seem to help the jig have alot more action too. I haven't had any problem with the fish seeing them either. I order mine through Jann's netcraft. They come in three sizes lg, med, small, I use the large for both ice and when trolling triple teezers and needle fish. Makes it a lot easier for these ole eye balls. [fishin] Sportmans's have them, but found they usually are sold out of the large. good luck [signature] Re: [Smokerdog] Fly snaps - Therapist - 02-17-2009 Google " fas snaps" . They have a lot of different uses. Re: [timberhall] Fly snaps - toyguy - 02-17-2009 I found that even the large ones are too small to easily remove from the ring on the lure that it is attached to. Remember, on a lure ring that is not fixed and moves around freely, it's hard to get a real good unclip angle. Same concept clipping in. You want the lure ring to stay stationary and provide resistance so that fas clip opening will clip to the ring. But it won't. It was super annoying. And I fish to evade the annoyances in my life, not to create more. I ultimately gave up and just started tying snaps to the end of my line. Much easier and actually quicker change-outs. [signature] |
