Float tube bladder! - KrzMoFo - 03-28-2009

[cool]Good morning everyone. I have a Caddis Nevada U tube. The bladder burst on the seam. I have made calls to Caddis Sports, for the past couple of days as well as other sporting good and outfitters. I have had no luck getting in touch with Caddis, and the bladder seems to be difficult to locate. I did find one location online, Steves. They have the bladder in there online catalog, but having trouble getting someone to pick up the phone. Does anyone have any other resources for me to try?

In the mean time being without a float tube I went to Sports Chalet. Here is the deal they had a Caddis Navagator 6 for $79.99, and a Caddis Nevada for $79.99. I liked the Navagator 6, and being the only one they had in stock was the one on display. They offered that to me plus a 15% discount for the floor display. My brain was really twisted and was heavily influnced by the price. But I sure did like the Outcast Fish Cat 4-LCS.
It is built sturdy and the price was right, $169.99+tax. It comes with a 5 year warranty. So I purchased it. I hope I made a good dicision. Would appricate some feedback on the Outcast Fish Cat 4, pro's and con's. I would still appricate a bladder for the Nevada for a back up.

I have only been in the water twice in a folat tube, and I am hooked. Today I am going to add some accesories
so to be ready for the Float Tube tournament and Lake Castaic on the 4th of April.
Have a great day everyone.[fishin]

You did the right thing. The Outcast tubes are great. I have had a Fat Cat for nine years now and it is still going strong. I purchased another one last year as back up and eventual replacement. However, they have made so many improvements since I bought my original tube 9 years ago, that my old tube has been relegated to back up. I really enjoy fishing from my new Fat Cat and have a friend who uses the Fish Cat. It is almost as nice as the higher end Fat Cat at a very reasonable price.

God Bless,
Don

My FC4 is going on 6 years now. Compared to the Caddis U boat? FC4 is still better hand (fins) down. hehe.

At least you can enjoy it while waiting for someone to answer the phone somewhere else.[cool]

My Brother had the same U and the same Problem.

Here is yours..right?

Now, I am not sure on dimensions, but these two are both 100% Urethane,
I wonder if the bladder would fit.

The Mustang looks real similar.

I was in the same position 4 years ago. My first tube was a Caddis Nevada, I got hooked on float fishing, had great success afloat, but wearied of the constant leaks in the cheap bladder. Decided to upgrade to a Fat Cat and haven't looked back. You will be pleased with your decision.

When I was looking for a back-up bladder for the Caddis, I found the only thing the "Caddis" company was offering was dog beds. I think they were getting out of the float tube business. However, this establishment did/does offer accessories for tubes and may be able to help you. Check them out.

My last tube was a Nevada, and is still going strong for the most part, other than the stitching starting to come undone on one side of the seat. Never had any problems with leaks, except a small one in my backrest that was my fault. I only upgraded because I started bringing more and more crap (can I say that here) with me, and I wanted more capacity/space.

Funny though, recently I was out fishing and I saw somebody kick past me in a Nevada. I thought to myself "Man, I can't believe I ever fit in that thing".

It's funny I'm going through this right now trying to get a spare bladder for my Navigator 2. Caddis has been out of them for 8 months and all other vendors I've found there on back order. I might have to get a new tube
