Hal, RIver Park, Mixed - Crappie, 'gills & Bass, 05-02-09, Drum King - FishNews - 05-03-2009 First part of a wet day, emoRain When I called DK at 6 AM this morning he said that the crackerfest had been canceled but I was already off the mountain and half way to the lake so we decided to have a go at it even though it was already raining, emoSorry We got the boat in the water and we were fishing in a light rain by 7 AM. It rained most of the morning, sometimes pretty hard and then the lightening started getting closer so we headed for the dock and the safety of DK's truck for a few minutes, emoConfused I didn't have my weekly fishing fix yet so we waited for the rain to let up and then went back out to catch a few more. All in all it was a pretty good day considering the changing weather. The count was around 50 spots, 20 'gills, 2 catfish and one drum. All fish caught in less than 15 FOW with the temp around 63* emoAngler One of the cats was around 5 lbs and the drum was around 15 lbs and 26 or 27 inches long, emoFish The drum put up a mighty battle on 4 lb line and so did the 5 lb cat. Also caught one little 9 in crappie, emoThumbsup All fish caught on lead head jigs and plastics, emoSmile We had fun but sure got wet. The weather man missed again saying that the rain would be heaviest after 2 PM. Of course it quit while we were loading out at 1 PM and didn't hardly rain at all after that, emoRolleyes
It was still a fun day even if we did get soaked, emoSmile Looking forward to trying some crappie tomorrow, emoTongue |
