Fishing ESP - StanWright - 05-30-2009

I have ESP... I can see into the future and predict things that are going to happen.
Why just the other day as my attention was focused on the fly fisherman in the front of the boat...
It all came to me in a flash......
Only moments before, in the back of the boat, I had hooked a fresh live bait on the line and cast it out before handing the spinning rod to the angler. (The wives of some fly fishermen do not fly fish.)
For some reason I turned around and saw that she had laid the rod on the deck beside the seat.
I said to myself: "Self", I said... "a big fish is going to grab that live bait and pull that spinning rod and reel right over the side of the boat."
Lo and be hold, as I stepped toward the stern of the boat to secure the rod, it seemed to grow legs and scramble accross the deck, leaped out over the water, and with a splash, dived into the depths of the lake. Just the way I had seen it in my thoughts only moments before it happened.
You know, I even amaze myself some times.
P.S. If anyone catches a large peacock bass in the area of the South Fork called Paper Bark.... and there is a fishing line attached.... and there is a spinning rod and reel attached to the other end of the line.....
It's mine. :Smile
Aloha,
Stan

Your right about that.... better to loose $100 worth of spinning tackle than a $700 worth of fly fishing outfit.

What really get's me is.... I just finished spooling it with brand new line.

[Image: dumb.gif][#008000]Has that happened to you in the past? Everyone seems to have a story about different mishaps on the water, so I got to thinking did I ever have one? Then I'm reminded of the time last year when the fishing hit a lull and I grabbed my camera to get a few shots of the scenery. Then I laid the camera down and went back to fishing. Yup about five miles down the road I felt like something was missing. Dud where is my camera? Fortunately it was still lying were I placed it up against a tree. Okay so heres one of the pics. Really a nice spot on the Kern.[/#008000]

Re: [StanWright] Fishing ESP - hartz - 05-30-2009

To see a video of the same thing Youtube "Bill Dance Rod Pulled off Boat". It is hilarious.

I never lost a rod to the depths when just setting it down. But I came very close one time when landing a fish. I was out in the middle of a lake and had a very nice LMB on the line. I lipped the bass and in my excitement I set my rod down... in the water. After a second I realized my mistake and frantically searched for the tag end of my line. Found it and raked the rod in. Caught a fish and a rod that day. [cool]

many years ago I was fishing with a friend on his boat back in a cove in about 8 feet of water. I heard a sploop behind me a few curse words from my friend. I turned around to see him looking at the water like he had just lost his best friend. Then I noticed that he did not have his rod in his hand. The casting rod and reel he had just gotten for his birthday and had been bragging about the day before at work and all morning. He stammered that he had it catch on something on the bottom and he was not hangling on real hard and it just pulled out of his hands.

After a couple of minutes He was in better spirits. He was going to get the pole back. We would cast slabs out and reel them in slowly and catch the pole. That is my buddy. Overly optimistic. Well it would not hurt to humor him and start some casting and dragging.

But you know in half an hour of this and he was big Smiles with that rod caught on the slab.
