salecreekaviator, Chick, Bass/Cat/Panfish of biblical proportions, 6/18, Cloyd - FishNews - 06-19-2009 My neighbor Cloyd and I have been talking about going fishing for a long time but seem to always have scheduling problems (mine). Well, Monday we tentatively scheduled a trip for this morning and last night felt our timing was the jackpot when a mayfly hatch erupted yesterday. We were on the water by 6:30 this morning and were back in for the honey do list by 10:30 or so. <br /><br />We were hoping to bust some bass and fished shallow waters on the channel and in a cove that has a good history. We tried c-rigged worms, injured minnows, rooster tails and an unknown that will not likely be tried again. emoLaugh Gray/smokey rooster tails were the hit parade today. emoToast No surprise there I guess with the hatch. We didn't get as many bass as we hoped only four keepers: Cloyd had a nice smallie, hybrid and spot. I had the only keeper large mouth. We also got several pygmy slicks and a 4 lb blue cat. As expected the panfish were in a frenzy and were practically jumping into the boat... a near biblical experience. emoBig We easily landed 90-100 and quick released a bunch more at the boat. <br /><br />We also saw some great wild life out today, herons, woodpeckers, hawks, an adolscent eagle and a couple of racoons. One looked like he was in sumo training and appeared to be feasting on mayflies in an overhang. Must be raccoon candy because it would have taken hours to fill that dude up on mayflies. Not only did we enjoy seeing him, we were grateful that he kept them stirred up for us. <br /><br />No pictures today, I didn't want to slime the Blackberry and no real size to brag about. Everything was terrorized for a few moments and released to hopefully be caught again. Loads of fun, fellowship and enjoying God's beautiful creation. <br /><br /> emoThumbsup
