RyanWood, Chick, Crappie, 6/25/09, Solo - FishNews - 06-26-2009
I decided after reading his post yesterday, that I want to be like Drumking, who can catch crappie anytime, anywhere (including the Walmart parking lot, I am convinced). Put in at CF at 6:30 am to go upriver and try a few deepwater spots. The crappie bite was slow for me this morning but on my second cast I did land a nice channel cat. After about 30 minutes of flipping around a dock, I finally decide to shoot it on the shallow side and caught a nice 12" crappie. This kept me at the dock for another hour, catching two more keepers, a couple of throwbacks, and a nice white bass. Moved up to the bluff at Sequoyah and spent the rest of the morning there catching a few more crappie, all of which were nice, and a few largemouth. Not much for numbers today but the size of the crappie was excellent. I released all of the fish to fight another day. Its gonna take a lot more fish for me to catch DK!
