saw the coolest thing - jim202000 - 07-03-2009 Being the sort of a science geek I am I saw the coolest thing today while fishing. About a foot and a half off shore in, give or take, about 8" of water there was a catfish of about 14" or so. The cool part about it was not the big fish but rather the hundred or so baby fish she was watching over. The whole lot just holding under some shore weeds, the young wriggling about in bliss, the mother warily holding over watching and protecting her new life born unto the world (ok the pond but still) To a geek that was a sight worth sitting and taking in, just wish I could have snapped a photo peace [signature] Re: [jim202000] saw the coolest thing - lurtch - 07-03-2009 you dont have to be a geek to think thats cool.. After laying the eggs the female has nothing further to do with the eggs or young. [signature] Re: [HuntinCrappie] saw the coolest thing - IvanM1 - 07-07-2009 That sounds pretty messed up... When my clown fish had little ones someone in the tank ate them all LOL. More than likely the trigger fish... Still pretty cool to see all those little guppy sized dudes swimming around. Want to hear geeky? I had a 200 Gal reef and I ordered a buttload of live sand from ebay that turned out to get me a baby jelly this thing was tiny I watched and studied it for about three days after I found it then it got sucked into the filter infront of my own eyes. Probably the coolest thing I had seen though :-) [signature] Re: [jim202000] saw the coolest thing - sandygomez6557 - 07-11-2009 I can only imagine how beautiful that must have been! I wish I could have seen it, and you really don't have to be a geek to appreciate something that lovely. [signature] |
