UL Knolls update - ParrMark - 09-18-2009 Since I couldn't make the flotilla on Monday, I decided to try the knolls this morning for a little while. With the new moon and cooling temps. I was hopeful.[ ![]() As I neared the turnoff down to the lake, my truck was attacked by a massive swarm of midges. Ewww! The front of my rig was covered with them. As I drove down the dirt road to the the lake, I could see huge swarms flying around above the road. Hmmm - I wondered what that would bring. As I began unloading gear, I noticed a lot of small fish were picking midges off the surface. I tossed a spinner at them a few times, but to no avail. I launched just after 7:00AM to 68 degree water and a pleasant air temp. There was a breeze from the north, and it appeared the wind had been churning things up during the night leaving 1-2 foot rolling waves on the surface. I headed into the breeze thinking if it got stronger it would just push me back to the launch site. I fished my way in 4-6 foot deep water almost up to the north end of the bay without a strike. By 8:15AM the wind and waves appeared to be calming, so I decided to bee-line it toward the south point. I made it all the way down there, and still not even a bump. Finally I picked up one Whitie on a spinner, but that was it. I had a couple more 3-4" dinks hit and get off on the way in, but they don't count. I got off the water at about 10:30, a bit disappointed. I really though the new moon would set the stage for a productive morning. Just shows ya what I know.[:/] [signature] Re: [ParrMark] UL Knolls update - TubeDude - 09-19-2009 [cool][#0000ff]Sorry you did not have a better day.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]You referred to the "south point". Do you mean the point to the WEST, where the rocky hills come down into the water?[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]How deep were you fishing? This time of year you sometimes have to move out to the 7 to 8 foot depths to find fish. But, with warm water...and calm conditions...the fish will move back into shallower water. It helps to fish after a couple of calm days when the water clarity is better and the fish can settle down. Sorry to hear you can't make it on monday. [crazy] [signature] |
