What to use? - FendertheFisher - 11-08-2009

So to go crappie fishing ive always used either a wrom on a hook or a minow on a hook. (With a bobber) What is another good thing to catch some crappie?

jigging for them with 4 pound test micro filiment

use 1/32 -1/16 ounce jigs, you can make an offering out of meal or wax worms, spikes, mousies, and artifficial baits like crappie candies and small bodied soft plastics.

the jigs I use are the tear drop veriety.

ya, I catch lots of gills in the process, but hey, I catch gills on worm and minnow as well...

I have caught them trolling with small repallas.

Jigs are a always a good bet. Especially white. Both plastic and the forgotten marabou jig work very well.

There are times when crappie will take the smaller jigs and I like the kiptail jigs at this time.
The smallest jigs that have worked for me was 1/124th oz. Caught 10 decent ones on that tiny thing. It was tied with Chartruse sparkle chinelle and mariboo tail .
The picture is of a storage box of hair jigs I tied while sitting with a broke ankle.
Merry Christmas all,
