Late ice in the Denver metro area - DonInDenver - 02-19-2010

Wow! I have never seen so much ice on the metro area reservoirs this late in the year. Cherry Creek is still locked up. Chatfield has over 15" of solid ice, and we have another week of cold weather coming. Bear Creek Res. has a lid as well.

Ice fishing for trout at Chatfield and most other places remains good on jigs and spoons tipped with mealworms, waxworms, and minnows and a few 'eyes are being caught, but they're much tougher to pattern consistently.

Perch have been tough to find all winter, but Douglas Res. north of Ft. Collins is producing some.

Metro ice fishing! Get it while you can!
