Good excuse to carry a gun while im out antler hunting i guess..... [signature] Re: [BlueDuck] Turkey Season - iliketofish - 03-13-2010 I'm getting pretty itchy to chase some turkeys. Turkey Season just happens to coincide with my field season for work however, so I hope I have enough time to get out! [signature] Re: [BlueDuck] Turkey Season - chrome_junky - 03-20-2010 i didnt draw. [:/] i wanted to shoot one with my new mathews dxt guess not. [signature] Re: [chrome_junky] Turkey Season - Belasko - 03-21-2010 you could always head for Preston. It's no further than Salmon where you go for steelies, just the opposite direction. [signature] Re: [Belasko] Turkey Season - dma_ayotte - 03-24-2010 Preston SURE is infested with Turkey's man...... [signature] Re: [dma_ayotte] Turkey Season - Wombat911 - 03-25-2010 Are there a bunch of turkeys there or is that sarcasm? I'm pretty new to the state and was wanting to find some areas to hunt. [signature] Re: [BlueDuck] Turkey Season - ductaped4runner - 03-25-2010 i was out of town work at the first of the year so i wasn't around to put it for it and i didn't think about it till it was to late. and i don't know if i will even be around....i might be in Beaverton Oregon workin. but on that note i will be able to do some salmon fishin.. [signature] Re: [Wombat911] Turkey Season - jigs - 03-26-2010 ya preston has a ton of them... the problem is most of them are on private land and getting permission is hard. about every drainage system in this area has them. cubriver, minkcreek, the narrows, worm creek... the utah side is getting alot of them also. i have seen them in 4 or 5 diffrent locations in the middle of logan this winter. one was standing on the corner by a stop light like it was waiting to cross. [signature] Re: [jigs] Turkey Season - Wombat911 - 03-29-2010 Thanks for the info on Preston. Too bad most of the area is private. I'm looking to start semi easy this year. I'm looking for decent turkey densities on open lands. I know it is a tall order to fill. Drive time is not an issue. Any Ideas? Thanks [signature] Re: [Wombat911] Turkey Season - dma_ayotte - 04-01-2010 Try the Narrows up the Bear River up MinkCreek way. You will have TONS of other hunters however because its about the only "public" land up there to hunt. But if you put in your time and effort. you should bag yourself a bird man. Good luck.. [signature] Re: [dma_ayotte] Turkey Season - Wombat911 - 04-01-2010 Thanks for the good advice. I'll will look into going there. [signature] Re: [dma_ayotte] Turkey Season - jigs - 04-05-2010 be sure to know were the public land is up that way. the layout and boundries can be confusing [signature] Re: [jigs] Turkey Season - dma_ayotte - 04-06-2010 Thats true!! The smiths will tan ur hide if they find ya up on their land lol..... I dont do much hunting in the Riverdale area where i have my own land i like to skip around on....... [signature] Re: [dma_ayotte] Turkey Season - ross220 - 04-07-2010 I drew a spring turkey tag the 950-1. I thought I had some turkey hunting lined up over in Mackay on some private ground but the owner said he hasn't seen any turkeys all winter. I am wondering where to go now. I hear there are turkeys over around Idaho Falls and Rexburg but have no idea where to start looking. This will be my first year turkey hunting so I am new to all this. Anyone have any tips or spots to start looking for a turkey? Thanks [signature] Re: [ross220] Turkey Season - dma_ayotte - 04-07-2010 I'm sorry i'm not much on this one man! i dont really hunt up that area much at all, where i have my own land i try to stay on it and leave the rest of the area's to those with no land to hunt on. When i've been fishing down in the south fork area past Ririe, i have seen and heard turkeys down there in the river flats. you could check the Regs on that area and see what it shows for hunting. I'm sure someone could jump in and maybe help you out on this more then me though, sorry im no help man..... [signature] Re: [ross220] Turkey Season - Belasko - 04-08-2010 I have seen and heard turkeys around Heise/Kelly Canyon area when I've hunted grouse in the fall and at times going up spring skiing. I would probably start in the river bottoms in that area. [signature] Re: [Belasko] Turkey Season - chipmunksniper - 04-12-2010 I'm headed out this saturday to try out the new B-mobile decoy. looks pretty convincing on TV! [signature] Re: [BlueDuck] Turkey Season - BlueDuck - 04-18-2010 I got a nice Tom on opening day. Finally a spring thats going like it should. The last two years the area I hunt was snowed in for Turkey season. Looks like its going to be a good year for Turkeys....... [signature] |
