Trolling motor question - tbest08 - 04-16-2010 I have an older 16 foot pontoon boat that my friends and I use for bowfishing carp. The motor on back is way too loud and its hard to get close enough without spooking them. I want to mount a trolling motor, but dont know much about them. My main question is what pound thrust would I need to effectively move a boat like this? But it never hurts to go bigger ![]() [signature] Re: [tbest08] Trolling motor question - davetclown - 04-20-2010 if you have any wind at all, 80-100 minimum [signature] Re: [tbest08] Trolling motor question - flygoddess - 04-20-2010 I had an 11'6" Pontoon that I ran a 30 on. It died after a good long life and I replaced it with a 40 (new pontoon and wanted a longer shaft) I am thinking a 50 and up would be perfect. But I just bought a 5hp 4 stroke that weighs the same as the battery and is super quiet. [signature] |
