helicopter fishing.......... - peter805 - 06-10-2010

Went fishing today for LMB. Good action in the morning till about 10:00. Caught 4 LMB all on da fly (thats
the only way I fish this days).
Then a helicopter moved in to suck up some water
for a hill fire couple of miles away. It was pretty crazy.
I never been so close and personal with the heli on the
water before............[crazy].
Seen many HUGE bass going by but those are not that
easy to get.
It was a very nice day. I need to do more of that.[Smile]
Enjoy the pictures

Nice pictures. Mind if I ask what flies you were using?

Flies- good old black woolly bugger and black spider.
I did try bunch others but those two were the
picket for me as always. No action on poppers either.

Thanks, I am still trying to figure out bass and what they like.

Yah gotta love woolly buggers in all colors, but black especially. It seems to have an appeal that is universal to most species and waters.

Peter,

Very cool. I was at a lake a couple years ago and had the same fire/helicopter experience except I could see the fire on the hillside as they worked it.

For anyone in the Scal area, there is a night float at Castaic Lagoon next Saturday night (6/19 6pm-midnight. $20. No motors). Peter and I are thinking about doing it. Anyone else interested?

[cool][#0000ff]Great post and pics.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Can you imagine two big bass down there looking up at the helicopter and saying "That's the biggest dragon fly I've ever seen. Don't think I'm gonna try for that one."[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If you tie your own flies I might suggest you try adding some soft rubber legs for extra bass appeal. Works good on trout in some waters too. Use black with black...or even add some white or chartreuse legs for added visibility in colored water.[/#0000ff]
