Thistle Creek flies on cover of Trout - riverdog - 06-27-2010

Take a look, TU magazine Trout has a picture taken at Thistle Creek on its cover. It shows a small stone on the back of a salmonfly. Not uncommon for me to see 3 or 4 types of various stones and salmonflies hatching simultaneously on Thistle creek. Not exactly sure how this picture got chosen for the cover but it nice that its from a small creek that many of us fish.

Is it? That sucks, I used to fish it all the time when I lived in Utah Valley. Between that, Lower Fish Creek being dewatered all the time, and the poisoning of Diamond Fork, I guess I'm not so Sad to have moved away from those streams anymore.[:/]

That first stretch up from the shooting range had some great holes and runs. It used to be I would always catch at least one fish around 18" there. Now I pretty much hear about only small fish. Oh well, The Logan and Blacksmith are my streams now.

Never got to fish thistle ... probably never will now. I've heard it was amazing.[frown]

There's still some spots worth fishing. Never caught any above 20 inches in there anyway but there's still many in the midteens to be found.
