Celebration Park/Halverson 6/27 - ditchbanker - 06-28-2010 Not a huge report, but I've taken so much info from you guys I feel like I need to pay something back. Went out to the Celebration park area today. Started off about a quarter mile west of the bridge at about 10:30 this morning. Started off pretty consistently with small mouth biting on lures with an orange tint (several different colors). Died off past noon, but I had time to kill before my friend met me there to walk into Halverson Lake, so I stuck through a couple hours not catching anything. Around 3:00 I got a couple more then packed it up and called it a day there. All said, I caught 6, most were well under 12" but two were VERY close. I decided to play it careful and tossed them back anyway. I didn't have a measuring tape so I'd just cut a 12" piece of twine as a gauge. It might have been there, but I didn't want to get busted for optimistic thinking. Besides, it's not like I would go hungry if I didn't keep it. We walked into Halverson, getting there around 4:30 or so. We'd been there in the beginning of June, and the weeds have really taken off since then. I'd say about 85% of the shore has a nice little weed barrier. We passed some guys on the way in that said they were having luck with poppers. Since we didn't have any, we found a tiny bit of success with Crappie Nibs and a small spoon for bluegill and my friend caught a few bass with a spinner and a green lure. I predict that the weeds are going to make this almost impossible to fish without a tube or the willingness to wade further than we did (had pockets full of stuff) before too long. Here's a picture of the biggest bass I caught. Not a record, but he fought well. It's not always about the size or quantity but how you played the game. Way to go Bro!!!
