Scofield Report 8-7-10 - HATH - 08-12-2010 We hit the lake about 8 am and ended up getting off the lake about noon when a big storm blew in. It was non stop fishing from the first cast to the last. By the end of the day we ended up with having caught every species of fish in the lake (rainbow, cutthroat, cutbow, and tiger trout) including a trap full of crawdads. Whether we trolled shallow or deep, or just fishing in one place, the fish were biting. Spinners, spoons, crawfish imitating rapalas, and worms all produced! Oh and hot dogs for the crawdads. I even caught fish by simply trolling with a split shot rigged worm. One time I was reeling up my worm when a tiger trout come chasing it, when I pulled the worm out of the water he seemed stunned, he just sat there , I finally reached out and tried to touch him and when he finally came to and darted back down into the deep. So I threw my worm back out in the same spot and ended up landing the one and only tiger trout for the day. This phenomena tells me there was either a school of tigers in that area, or I caught the same one that had chased my bait the cast before? Anyways in four hours we must have landed 20 or 25 fish, after a while we lost track. It was so fun! To add to the trip we saw a big buck on the way there still in his velvet, and on the way home we saw a lightning strike on the side of the mountain. We also saw a big tiger trout dead on the shore that must have been a good three or four pound mature male.
