Windy Vernon - pa - 08-19-2010

We went to Vernon Reservoir this morning and arrived to very strong winds. I have never seen it blow that hard at Vernon. Launching was completely out of the question. Tried to bank tangle, and thats exactly what it was. A tangled mess. So we came back to the valley and stopped at Herriman pond for while. Managed these between 1 and 2.

I did Joni. Tried the "Pink Floyd" at Herriman and got some Blue Gills and one little Rainbow. I'm not sure if there are any trout left there. Will head to Vernon or Deer Creek next week and will let you know

Hey Pat,
Got mine on one of your Red/Chartuse Road Runner tipped with a piece of worm. It amazes me how well they work on so many different waters and species. Barb got hers on a worm.

[cool][#0000ff]I can't think of any water or species I haven't caught them on that during the past two years. Even those silly trout eat them. Huntington tigers almost crawl into my tube to get at them. And probably 2 out of 3 perch and walleyes from Starvation are wearing the RC colors in their lips...smallies too.[/#0000ff]

Re: [pa] Windy Vernon - wagdog - 08-20-2010

I can second what pa is saying. Even fish in East Texas liked the TD red/chartreuse combination. Sunfish (about 5 different species), largemouth bass, spotted bass, and blue cats all fell victim to that combination. A wise dude once told me, "All of them will work and catch fish but some will work better than others." I think red/chartruese falls into the latter a lot of days for me... [Wink]
