Gator, Chickamauga, Crappie, 8/25/10, Shark - FishNews - 08-28-2010 The Shark wanted to see how to "shoot docks for crappie" and I wanted to show him how to do it and hopefully catch some in the process. He met me at HBSP at 7:00 this morning and we were off, picked up a couple at the very first dock and then they shut down, tried another and picked up one I think, tried the 3rd dock and it didn't produce at all. Left the docks and headed to a marina that had been productive in the past and it didn't do anything at all, tried 4th dock and nothing at all, left there for the 5th dock and so on and so on, finally we fished lots and lots of docks and found a total of 14 crappie with 9 being keepers. Most crappie caught near bottom in 15+ fow. We even fished some bluffs for a while too. I did get broke off a couple times on something that was seriously big.
Also add a couple yellow bass and one small catfish to the day. We finally threw in the towel at 2:00. It was a tough day on catching but I hope that Shark knows a little more about dock shooting today than he did yesterday. Water temp around 81 degrees and I used MoGlo BG Shads mostly and some stubby butts while Shark used his own special personally produced jigs. The weather was beautiful all day long but the wind got up some on the main lake. Ran into Polo Dog swimming in WT Creek with Freida barking from the dock. Nice seeing you again Mark. Thanks for the tip on where to go but that didn't work for us either.

Shark, it was a pleasure having you along today, I hope you at least had a good time. We'll try it again sometime after it cools off a bit more.

Here's a photo of The Shark and a couple crappie. |
