Penn 200 for striped bass? - McNash - 10-15-2010

Hi,
Going striper fishing tommorow. Normally use my penn 114. I use diamond jigs when fishing for the bass. Normally in 160' of water. I want a little more challenge. SO heres my question! Do you think a penn 200 would be able to handle a full day of diamond jigging for stripers? Using 40 LBS line. Fast enough for dj'ing? Powerful enough for 45" stripers? Thanks

Yes it can, BUT BRING ANOTHER REEL AND ROD.[fishon][fishon]

The magic happens with the angler. If you're skilled enough, the rod and reel can do it. But like mentioned, make sure you bring a back up.

I landed a 31" gag grouper this year on a 30 lb spinning outfit, while fishing for black sea bass with jigs.
