Penn 200 for striped bass? - McNash - 10-15-2010 Hi, Going striper fishing tommorow. Normally use my penn 114. I use diamond jigs when fishing for the bass. Normally in 160' of water. I want a little more challenge. SO heres my question! Do you think a penn 200 would be able to handle a full day of diamond jigging for stripers? Using 40 LBS line. Fast enough for dj'ing? Powerful enough for 45" stripers? If you're skilled enough, the rod and reel can do it. But like mentioned, make sure you bring a back up. I landed a 31" gag grouper this year on a 30 lb spinning outfit, while fishing for black sea bass with jigs. [signature] |
