team-d, Chickamauga, Bass w/lots of extras, 12/20 & 12/21, Nickajack Angler and Aug, Self - FishNews - 12-22-2010 Fished Monday with Spence and his son Aug, we didn't start until about 10 as it was a cold day with the north breeze blowing. We never found a single bass but did catch several little blue cats, white bass, yellow bass, and a bunch of drum. Highlight of the day was a 20+ pound drum Spence caught on a light crappie rod and 4lb test, took us for a ride for about 20 minutes. Kept graphing a lot of fish and bait but couldn't figure the bass quite before we ran out of time.

I fished solo today and went back to the same general areas to try to make the bass bite, and I got lucky and stumbled in to a bunch of them. I'm not good at counting when I get into fish so my rough totals were 5 spaaaats, 14ish LM, 2 nice SM, several white bass, several yellow bass, 8 or 10 little blue cats, 1 channel cat, and about a dozen drum. Biggest LM on my scale was just under 5 lbs, the two smallmouth were 4.5 and 3.9 on my digital, and my best 5 were all over 4 pounds. No camera and nobody with me so tried to get a bunch of iphone shots, my arms aren't long enough to get decent photos but had to give it a shot.

First LM was caught at 27ft about 5 minutes after I started fishing, so I thought I had things figured out. After an hour and half dozen cats and drum I changed up and finally found the bass, all caught between 12 and 20 feet on dropshots and silver buddy. Definitely worth taking the day off! |
