Ice fishing whats working? - Idaho - 12-28-2010 Hello all, What is working? Fish finders/flashers. Or just take our chances? Drill a hole or many. I eliminate as much chance as possible.[cool] windriver [signature] Re: [Idaho] Ice fishing whats working? - MadRussian - 12-28-2010 Headed up to Chesterfield in the morning. I always drill at least a dozen holes in water from 6-15 ft. I usually use bait on most rods with a couple left for jigging. Fishing the bait from 1-2 feet off the bottom works best. There always seems to be a couple of holes that see the most action. I then concentrate my efforts around these. Too much noise on the ice seems to reduce the action. No bites for 1/2 hour and I am usually moving up or down the bank a hundred yards or so. Fish are usually just cruising under the ice so you never know where you might find them. Good luck! Drill several holes and as mentioned set up the bait just off bottom. If no action in 20-30 minutes move a ways and try again. If you have access to a flasher that will help immensely. If you don't see anything in about 15 minutes on that and you aren't getting hit move on. [signature] Re: [Idaho] Ice fishing whats working? - Idaho - 12-30-2010 Thanks for the help. I have been going to Deep Creek. It has been pretty good. A lady up there caught around a 4 pounder. nice fish. I brought up 2 1/2 lbs. pretty steady. Al though it snowed about a foot. Today. I might take my kids up tomorrow. Thanks again. Idaho "We never get over the fishing fever, its a delightful disease and thank the Lord there is no cure" [signature] |
