What do you recommend??? - ZebcoMan - 02-16-2011 [fishin] I throw light jerk bait and want to cast farther than anyone that I fish with. What do you recommend? I haven't seen a baitcaster that will throw a light bait further. [signature] Re: [ZebcoMan] What do you recommend??? - albinotrout - 02-16-2011 Spinning outfit with 8 lb test will do what you want. If you want lots of fun go ultralight with 4-6 lb test. Or the other choice would be to go with a heavier bait.[:/] [signature] Re: [ZebcoMan] What do you recommend??? - gdn443 - 02-16-2011 Try braided line as well. Not sloppy or whippy, but a medium or medium light rod with a fast action should load nicely. Also, make sure you're using a large enough reel. A 1500 series reel is nice and light but the smaller spool does not allow line to peel off quickly and can shorten your casts. I fish a 7' medium power, extra fast action rod with 2500 Daiwa reel, loaded with 8lb line. I can throw small to larger baits pretty far, and the larger spool allows the line to fly off the reel with minimal wind knots. I can throw light cranks alot farther then with my 7ft rods. [signature] |
