Sport clam season delayed at Point Whitney Tidelands - FishNews - 02-18-2011 Action: The sport clam fishing season at Point Whitney Tidelands (excluding Point Whitney Lagoon) will open on March 15, 2011. Effective date: March 15, 2011 through April 30, 2011 Species affected: All clams Location: Point Whitney (excluding Point Whitney Lagoon). The beach is located in Jefferson County on Hood Canal. Reason for action: Surveys indicate that the clam population has declined, requiring that the season be shortened by two weeks.
