Don't know about slush. But I was up there a week and a half ago. Bring a plank. Edges were soft then. Had to climb over my sled to avoid going thigh deep in water. I am sure they are much softer now.

I was up there last sunday and it was starting to slush up but walking pulling a sled wasnt bad. We got on the ice early and the edges were soft. We left about 230 in the afternoon and my brother fell threw knee deep on the shoreline. It has been warm all week so I would definatley recommend a plank.
