The Wooly Knolls 6/7/11 - MacFisher - 06-08-2011 I finally took the trip out to the knolls. Had my hopes up for at least one white bass just to say I had caught one. Was on the water at 6. Threw out a jig with a minnow with hopes a kitty might take it and a red and white jig with a worm under a bobber for a whittie. I started about the private property line and went out to about six feet deep before working my way south down the shoreline. By the time I got to the cliff I was frustrated with that as much as a bite. Fished in close to the cliff for a bit before deciding that maybe they were in deeper water. So I moved out and found the 10 foot mark and trolled around that depth for a bit. BENDO! Sweet I thought as I started to reel in. About as fast as I started it was no longer there. Dang it! Switched to a different jig set up for the whitties and started casting toward shore. Only to look up and see bendo again on the kittie rod. This time I got it all the way in. I didn't get an exact measurement but it was a decent kittie. Let it go for another day. By that point I could see some white caps going so at 8:30 I decided to make my way back to the truck. Stayed out in deeper water most of the way with no luck. By the time I got back I had a welcome back party of Wooley proportions. About four bank tanglers showed up as I was leaving all looking for whitties. Hope they did better than me. It was 10:30 when I left. Way to early of a day! Gonna have to go out there another day and try again. Hopefully next time will be better. Lincoln beach might be a better ticket. Glad toknow you were able to bring in a Kitty though.[cool] [signature] Re: [MacFisher] The Wooly Knolls 6/7/11 - peter805 - 06-08-2011 They , there are those sheep that TD loves so much [blush] Nice cat ! I have known a few folks who got stranded ashore down past that rock point when the wind came up. As high as the water is now it would be tough to wade back.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Hope you said hi to the "cute ones" for me. Not sure when I will get down to comfort them again. They'll just have to deal with it. Love can be so unkind.[/#0000ff] [signature] Re: [TubeDude] The Wooly Knolls 6/7/11 - MacFisher - 06-10-2011 I said hi to them for ya. One of these times I'll have better luck out there. It was nice to have the whole area to myself and not have to worry about anyone else ruining my bad luck. Next time should be better this weather is starting to show the "bright side" of things. Thinking about going tomorrow to Lincoln beach or Deer Creek tomorrow. Just not sure which one. Decisions decisions. I love vacation time! [signature] |
