Current Creek Info? - ReelMasta - 06-22-2011

Mrs. Masta and I R thinking of fishing Current Creek this weekend, but need to know if we dare drag the boat behind our 24ft motorhome up that road. I've never been there and we're headed to Starvation and would like to detour the Current Creek way maybe for a night.
Any one been up that way lately.... any info would be appreciated.

I'm sure you can make it to the campground/ramp. There's one area of the paved section (near the big ranch) where you climb up a hill pretty quickly and there are some tighter turns in there.

I'm sure you can make those turns, but you may get saluted by other vehicles trying to come down at the same time. It's only a short stretch though. You'll be fine.

You're looking at the regs for the creek, not the reservoir.

So where exactly is Water Hollow?

Re: [LOAH] Current Creek Info? - Fishrmn - 06-22-2011

Looks to be the first tributary, or fork in the stream North of the turn off from US-40. I'd guess it to be a little more than 2 miles up the road. That's where Google Maps directs you when you search that area.

CURRANT CR RES WASATCH TROUT TIGER 20250 3.11" 06/07/2010

Twenty thousand last June. Probably runnin' about a foot long or thereabouts now.
Do I read this right, artificial bait only and 2 fish limit in the reservoir?
I cringe when I hear, or read when someone says "artificial bait" only. Some folks think that Power Bait is artificial. It ain't digestible, but it doesn't meet the "artificial flies and lures regulations.

Quote:Artificial fly means a fly made by the method known as fly tying. Artificial fly does not mean a weighted jig, lure, spinner, attractor blade or bait.
Artificial lure means a device made of rubber, wood, metal, glass, fiber, feathers, hair or plastic with a hook or hooks attached. Artificial lures (including artificial flies) do not include fish eggs or other chemically treated or processed natural baits or any natural or human-made food, or any lures that have been treated with a natural or artificial fish attractant or feeding stimulant.
Just to refresh our memories.

They've been in there for a few years. Most are about a foot long, but there are plenty of 20" now.

My son and I were up a couple of Fridays ago, the road is wide and paved most of the way to the dam, fishing was great for bows, tigers and cutts. The biggest tigers we caught were around 15-16". There were a few guys launching at the ramp. We did find most of the fish in shallow water but that may have been because we didn't take our boat.

Water hollow is where the buckhorn ranch is.

Thanks! Is that the big ranch that's a little over halfway to the dam?

I was up there last weekend got plenty of numbers most in the teens. Did get one tiger to tape over 20" fishing is good now, should be a good time for you. Since the road is now 2/3 paved it will make for a much more pleasant journey than in years past.
